ORIGIN
The Exotic Shorthair cat is a newer breed of cat, created approximately 50 years ago in the United States. The breeders wanted to make the cat similar to the Persian, but with shorter hair, easier to maintain. The long hair of a Persian cat requires a lot of care and time, so the breeders wanted to make a cat of a similar character but easier to maintain. According to some sources, they crossed the American Shorthair and Persian cat, and according to some other sources, both the Russian blue and Burmese cat participated in the mix of genes in order to create today’s Exotic Shorthair cat.
APPEARANCE
The Exotic Shorthair cat resembles a round plush toy. They have large eyes, a chubby head and a round charged body covered with short hair. These cats are characterized by shorter skull bones, a small nose and large eyes. They can appear in various colors and their average weight ranges between 4.5 and 9 kg.

CHARACTER
Exotics are very intelligent, they love toys, mostly toys with fishing rods or something similar that they can hunt. When they spend their energy playing, they like to spend the rest of the day lounging and resting. They are curious, very adaptable, they are a great choice for families with children, but also for families with other pets. They will make a very sweet meow, they are mild in nature, quiet, gentle and very kind. They can be shy towards strangers.
HEALTH AND CARE
Exotics are not demanding for care, but they need daily cleaning of wrinkles around the nose and eyes in order to prevent possible skin infections. They can be prone to both cardiorespiratory problems and various eye problems. The reason for the latter is that their eye is quite large in relation to the size of the head, which is why they have more protruding eyeballs, which can easily lead to corneal injuries. Although they have more and thicker fur compared to other shorthair cats, their hair is easy to care for, it is enough to brush them once a week to keep their fur shiny and healthy. Due to the thick fur, it is necessary to take care of it during the summer months, because these cats prefer to spend time in places that are colder, like tiles in the bathroom. Cool your home regularly, so that your pet will be comfortable at high temperatures.
