According to research, the most common cause of allergies in humans is a glycoprotein found in cat saliva, skin and of course hair. No responsible breeder will claim that his cat breed is completely anti-allergic, but below are a few breeds that should not cause a major allergic reaction if you want to keep them indoors.
Balinese cat – This cat is one of the least likely to cause allergic reactions in humans because it produces a much smaller amount of Fel D1 glycoprotein.
Bengal cat – a breed with short and shiny fur, which due to the fineness of its smooth fur does not need to groom itself often. Therefore, their hair will not often be covered with protein or allergen from their saliva.
Cornish Rex – a cat that almost does not shed at all, so she almost does not spread allergens around the apartment. Recognizable by large ears and soft, wavy and short fur.
Devon Rex – another breed that almost never sheds.
Javanese cat – has only one layer of fur, which is why she sheds noticeably less. For that reason, dandruff and allergens that remain on the cat’s hair will spread less throughout the apartment.
La Perm cat – a cat with extremely curly hair after which she is named. Its also true for this breed that it sheds extremely little, so many people consider it almost completely an anti-allergenic cat.
