ORIGIN
The Bombay cat was created by crossing a Burmese cat and an American shorthair cat. She is recognizable by her black short hair, which is why it is also known as the black Burmese cat and the mini panther. American Nikki Horner is considered the founder of the breed because she started the process of getting this kitten in 1953 in Louisville. According to some sources, a pair of Bombay cats arrived in France in 1989, and the European breed of this cat was born from their descendants.

She has pillows on the edge around her eyes and on her paws, her tail is long, her body is very muscular and firm and her back is straight. The only recognized color of this cat is black, but there are also dark brown specimens. Kittens are born lighter, so they gradually darken over the years. Her fur has a specific almost satin sheen. It has large and distant eyes that appear in the color of gold or copper in specimens from the USA, while in specimens from England they appear in the color of gold, yellow or green. The average weight of this cat is between 3.6 and 6.8 kg, where males are slightly larger than females.

She purrs a lot and has a very specific meow that she likes to use. It easily adapts to life in the apartment, and can be learned on a leash. The breed is considered intelligent, easily learns tricks, and can learn to bring things. She does not get along best with other cats, but will adapt to life with another dog as a pet, rather than with another cat.
HEALTH AND CARE
The Bombay cat is a strong and generally healthy breed. She becomes sexually mature very quickly, so if you decide to sterilize your pet, it is necessary to do so between the 6th and 9th month. It is considered completely physically mature when it is 2 years old. Their shiny hair is not demanding for care, weekly brushing is enough for it. They love food, so it is necessary to take care of their weight in order to avoid obesity. Also, they can sometimes have a genetic abnormality and be born with problems on the skull. More serious health problems can include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (hereditary heart disease), increased tearing of the eyes and difficulty breathing due to a short snout.
