That same year, it was decided that this breed would be named the Yugoslav tricolor hound after the country in which this bread originated, and three years later, the breed received its official FCI standard. After the disintegration of Yugoslavia, the name of the race was changed to the Serbian tricolor hound. The breed was originally bred because of its excellent abilities in hunting deer, foxes, rabbits and other game, as well as the excellent sense of smell that this breed possesses. His temperament has softened a bit over time, so today he can be found more and more as a family pet, although in many places he is still primarily bred for use in hunting.

This dog needs minimal care in terms of occasional brushing and bathing, but his diet needs to be taken into account because he has no self-control when it comes to food.
