One touching story comes from America when New York police officer Michael Pascale spotted an abandoned dog during a shift from a car.
The pit bull was chained to a fence, left in the rain among broken glass bottles and syringes. A police officer released him and took him to the animal care service. He and his wife agreed to adopt the dog, but according to the rules, they had to wait 72 hours.
It was immediately noticeable that the dog was attached to Michael and he could hardly wait for him to return to the shelter. See how it all went:
