CATS ALONE – Many believe that cats are ideal pets for families who spend a long time away from home, because they are more independent than dogs.
Dogs can stay alone for four hours, a maximum of six, while everyone agrees that if you leave enough food and water for cats, they can spend more than 24 hours on their own.
However, experts say that, although cats are independent, they do not like loneliness. Just because they sleep a good part of the day, doesn’t mean they like to be alone when they’re awake. They like to have other cats or people to play with, and frequent loneliness can cause depression and behavioral problems.
